The Non-negotiables of Basic Cleaning

What led to you being here? Is it because you’ve keyed in “House cleaning in Auckland”? Are you possibly curious as to what should be included in the cleaning service that will be coming in tomorrow? Maybe you’re also planning to do your own house cleaning, especially in this dusty Auckland summer?

Alright, many questions have been let go and the point is, regardless of why you’ve arrived at this blog post, you can rest assured that your queries on what should be included in a basic cleaning will be answered. Let’s get back to the basics!

house cleaning

  • Tidying the “heart” of your home

The best space to start in is where most time is spent in. Usually the aforementioned resonate to most as the bedroom. We surely hope so and the answer is not the kitchen or the bathroom-as both would raise some eyebrows!

Sam Bhandari, Director of Urban Care, once shared in an interview why their cleaning services often start in the bedroom. He mentioned, “Cleaning is best done from the inside out. Commencing from the bedroom just makes sense as this is where most rest, lounge, and is one of the areas that is most exposed to external sources and are prone to dust.”

So this comes with tidying the beds-changing sheets, fluffing mattresses, dusting, and vacuuming.

  • Cleaning where you clean

Countless carry the wrong notion that since bathrooms and laundry areas are where we clean, they no longer need to be sanitized. This is illogical as where you clean also connotes that this is where dirt you’ve washed off may have fallen to-and worse have stayed on.

For this very reason, wet places such as these can be found with molds and mildew due to not being cleaned properly. This definitely must be scrubbed-yes, especially the shower area and the insides of your washing machine.

  • The Holy Trinity – Dusting, Vacuuming, and Mopping

Moving onto the living areas, where different types of debris can be found-be it stray pieces of food, dust from the outside, formed cobwebs, insects, etc.

The advised steps to this process are dusting, vacuuming, and mopping. Dusting is primary so that any dust that floats into the air as you work and settle on the floor or carpets can be vacuumed later on. Mopping and disinfecting the floors is now best done after the first two steps, as most likely there will be no more dirt to cling to your wet mop. Just think if the process was the other way around and all that filth would go to your wet mop and eventually to your floors. Vacuuming wouldn’t be optimal and dusting just wouldn’t make sense anymore!

  • Kitchen Duties

This pretty much consists of washing the dishes and cleaning any appliances. Most of the time, devices, and machines that require heavy cleaning are the oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer.

You can say that the “inside out” mindset also applies here. After unloading, whatever debris found must be scrubbed, wiped, and sanitized for not just a cleaner space but also a healthier being for the homeowners.

  • What Else- Look Up!

Windows, regardless of how high, must also be wiped and sanitized of any mildew or dust. This is especially true if you have pets that like to window shop and ogle at passersby or birds flying by.

  • Further “Un-trashing” the Place

By now, most of the areas must have gone through cleaning already but you may be wondering where that foul odor is still coming from? It most probably is the overflowing trash from the bins! Hence, rubbish disposal is an obvious non-negotiable part of house cleaning in Auckland.
